Kundalini Yoga to Awaken the Inner Awareness with Gian Arjan Singh

July 08, 2018

6-8:00pm at OuterSpace | 1474 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago | 3rd floor [Wicker Park]

In the Kundalini Yoga Tradition it is believed you have 10 bodies. The physical body, three bodies relating to the mind, and 6 energy bodies, all of which have specific functions that are equally important to each other. When they are balanced you create a new caliber of life, and begin to operate at your optimal efficiency. One of my teacher's Nirvair Khalsa said "it is the model of human excellence. That's what learning about these bodies is all about."

This workshop is an introduction to the 10 Light Bodies of Consciousness that creates an experiential awareness of your subtle perceptual abilities, life force energy, and electromagnetic field - or auric radiance. Using yogic tools with which you can learn to recognize, access, train and utilize your natural faculties, you'll move toward creating balance between the bodies to produce a pure state of consciousness wherein you feel purposeful, protected, and elevating in your energetic projection. You get a little bit of everything in this one, and leave feeling fully in control of your internal conditioning, grounded in the physical body and connected to your Infinite potential.

Meet Kundalini Yoga Teacher Gian Arjan Singh:

Gian Arjan is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and Gong Resonance Sound Therapist based in Chicago, IL. His intention in sharing is for the radiance and wisdom the teachings have uncovered for him to inspire an illuminated life, celestial joy and awareness, and the capacity to keep going in the direction of your Highest Destiny. Full of poetic heart centered expressions of spirit, his classes are designed to assist you in keeping up with the cultivation of you Higher Consciousness, and come from the places of knowing he finds within himself, from his experience to your experience, in a way that is rooted in reality and acceptance of our humanity.

Magnifying the Underworld | An In Depth Look at the Astrological Aspects of the "Me Too" Movement

February 25, 2018

4-7pm, at 2100 W. Huron St., 1st Floor

ABOUT THE EVENT:

Astrology is a symbolic language. Symbols are the language of the subconscious.

As Jupiter, the planetary amplifier stepped into the sign of Scorpio —house of the subconscious and that which we keep repressed — up popped the #MeToo Movement.

The Shadow reveals itself in order to be healed.

Jupiter’s transit through Scorpio is a thirteen month journey, which began in October of 2017 and will end in November 2018.

In this workshop we will take a look at current events from the archetypal, mythical perspective that Astrology offers.

You are encouraged to bring your own chart. Once we’ve honed in on the Astrological Basics (no prior knowledge required), and each develop an understanding as to how this transit is unfolding in our lives, we will dive into a shamanic form of meditation to see what is ready to surface.

Then, with consent, we’ll bring our findings back to the table for group discussion.

Finally, everyone will be given a narrative medicine prescription so that we may write it out of our bodies, entirely.

Gentleman are welcome to join us.

Please come with your chart on hand. If you need help to have it printed, please arrive 20 minutes early with a donation for printing costs.

Tea & vegan snacks will be provided.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Carly is an Astrologer who has done the work well enough that those in need of support from sexual abuse (a.k.a. Scorpio issues) gravitate to her from out of thin air.

Yoga and Live Music with Summer and Drew from Satsang

September 26, 2017

7-9pm at JV Studios | 2201 S Halsted St [Pilsen]

Accompany Summer and Drew in a very special evening of deep Self Discovery! As Drew provides a heartbeat of live music, Summer will guide you into a breath centered asana practice set for all levels with mindful challenges designed to increase prana, vitality and empowerment of Self.

Through this hour long practice you will build strength to the physical body, focus of attention to breath and increase a present state of Awareness, only to prepare you for an incredible meditation afterwards. Summer will take savasana to the next the level, as she guides you into the depths of your Being, beyond the physical and subtle bodies where each individual's True Nature and Authenticity resides.

This gentle Yoga Nidra will take you on a journey of body, breath, mind and Spirit, into the depths of discovering your authentic inner rhythm and dance with the hum of the Life Force within ALL; which is always singing, dancing and shining even in the most distressing moments of life. While in a deep state of relaxation, Drew will gently guide you deeper into rejuvenation as he plays melodic rhythm on his guitar softly in the background. This is a true healing and revitalizing treat for all to experience.

About your Guides:

Summer Peterson, founder of Agami Karma Therapy, is an Integrative Therapist (LCPC, MFT, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT) committed to teaching and studying Yoga, Ayurveda and Meditation for health, spiritual growth and healing. Balancing raising 3 kids and working full time as a Mental Health Therapist/Yoga Therapist, she has learned that Yoga and Meditation is what holds the joys and sorrows of life together. Following the lineage of T.K.V Desikachar and his father Krishnamacharya, Summer teaches from her heart and soul as she believes the greatest adventure is the journey to the Self; which lies within each of us. No matter if you are new to Yoga or a seasoned veteran of Yoga the journey to the Self is a unique adventure for each individual. Along with teaching group classes, Summer offers private Clinical and Yoga Therapy sessions that combines her passions of Yoga, Ayurveda, Meditation and Psychology tailored to fit each individuals needs physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Summer specializes working mental suffering and trauma as well as children/young adults. When not teaching, studying or working with Clients, you can find Summer at home with her family, on the road with Satsang or in the Beartooth Mountains!!!

Drew McManus, lead singer and songwriter of Satsang, creates music for his soul, fueled by the ever present task of personal growth and the beautiful life that he found in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. Commenting on his difficult upbringing in Des Moines and residency in Chicago, McManus says, “I grew up in an environment where aggression, violence, abuse, and addiction were always present. It made me a lot of things; angry, sad, and ashamed. I hated my story and I was a slave to addiction. I tried for so long to hide from the reality of my story and the reality of how beautiful life could be.” It wasn’t until an intense spiritual experience lead Drew to break his cycle of addiction. “I had changed my entire outlook on everything” say McManus, “I began to realize that had everything not happened to me exactly like it did, I would not be exactly who/where/what I am right now.” In an effort to share his revelation with others who may be in the same predicament, Drew began to write every day. “I was flooded with the urge to write down the lessons that kept revealing themselves in this surrender. And the connections I began making with other people by making this music vulnerable and open, began to change everything.” These songs are a statement of lessons learned and a further understanding of self. “The whole story is what makes it beautiful, not just the good bits.”
